In this assignment, you will analyze network protocols and how data are packaged for transmission. You will compare and contrast at least five protocols and describe how the various layers of the OSI model package data for transmission. In your paper be sure to:
- Discuss the theoretical and practical needs for data communication protocols.
- Compare and contrast at least five network protocols.
- Describe in detail the functioning of each layer in the OSI data communication model.
- Critique the OSI model by describing competitive forms and why vendors might prefer proprietary formats.
Support your paper with a minimum of five (5) scholarly or technical resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
