Read Carlos Bulosan’s short story “The Romance of Magno Rubio,” which was written in the 1940s, and watch Marissa Aroy’s 2015 Emmy-nominated documentary Delano Manongs: Forgotten Heroes of the United Farm Works (28 minutes). Choose a quotation from Bulosan’s story and pair it with a scene from Aroy’s documentary. Then, in a 2-3 paragraph response of about 200-400 words, answer one of these two questions: Does the documentary enhance or diminish your experience reading the story?
