When we state a hypothesis the null hypothesis indicates that we are not seeing anything other than sampling variation. For example, if a state that the null hypothesis is that p=.60, then I am saying that the probability (or proportion) is 60–give or take a certain percentage based on sampling.
What might be an alternate hypothesis for this situation?
